Young Singers of the Plateau
Singing Do Re Mi Movement

he Young Singers of the Plateau has been providing choral opportunities for Cumberland County 2nd-8th graders since 2022. Singers learn using Kodaly-based music instruction that prioritizes singing as the primary way to develop musical skills and understanding. Learning is active and hands-on, using games, movement, and active participation to make music accessible and enjoyable. The method utilizes the moveable "do" system in solfege (do, re, mi...) to help students understand relative pitch and intervals. Singing games are used to introduce and reinforce musical concepts in a fun and engaging way. Movement activities, such as clapping, stepping, and dancing, are incorporated to develop rhythmic understanding and coordination.
The organization is staffed by Director Dana Beal, Associate Director Kimberly White and Accompanist Carol Tausan and performs under the umbrella of the Plateau Women's Chorus organization.
