"Swift to Love" - A Message of Love and Kindness
PWC will embrace and share the message of active love and kindness in their upcoming spring season “Swift to Love”. The phrase "Oh, be swift to love, make haste to be kind" is a well-known quote from the journals of Swiss philosopher Henri-Frédéric Amiel (1821–1881), often used as a blessing or benediction in Christian settings, emphasizing life's brevity and the urgency of showing love and kindness to others. It highlights the idea that we have limited time to uplift those sharing life's journey, making love and kindness essential. Our audience can anticipate a wide variety of music from the uplifting, jazz flavored, spiritual I Got A Robe by John Rutter to the contemporary Fix You by Coldplay an anthemic and comforting song about love, loss, and resilience.
Mezzo-soprano Renée Tatum is the guest artist for “Swift to Love”. Renée will sing with PWC on John Rutter’s I Got A Robe and Bizet’s Habanera from “Carmen”. Angela Anderson will join her for the Flower Duet from “Lakme”. The duet is one of the most haunting and infamous love songs ever written.
Renée continues to garner recognition in the most demanding of operatic repertoire. In the 2022-23 season, Ms. Tatum returned to the Metropolitan Opera for Rigoletto, sang Suzuki in Madama Butterfly with Palm Beach Opera and debuted her first Verdi Requiem with the Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra. Ms. Tatum’s relationship with The Met spans 11 years and has included nearly 100 performances. Renee describes herself as “Glass Half Full, music is my medium. Mezzo soprano, wife, mom and dog mom.”
The 50 voice female choir is directed by founding director Dana Beal, and accompanied by Jane Burnett - piano, Bob White - percussion and a string quartet.

Young Singers is an energetic community children’s chorus in Crossville for ages 8-14. The sound of the children's choir is a mainstay at all Plateau Women's Chorus performances. The vision of the choir is to instill in today’s youth the idea that through music the world can be a better place.
Young Singers will perform Glorious arranged by Masa Fukuda, Starlight, Starbright with cello and Count On Me by Bruno Mars. Glorious celebrates finding one's purpose in life. Starlight, Starbright uses a familiar tune to encourage us to shine. Count On Me is a fun upbeat tune about friendship.
The chorus is sponsored by the Plateau Women’s Chorus and founded upon the principles of teamwork, self-esteem, and self-discipline in a non-competitive environment. Young Singers is directed by Dana Beal and accompanied by Carol Tausan. Director Dana Beal states, “Our mission is to develop each singer’s talent while sharing the life-affirming gift of music with our community.”

Concerts are made possible in part by the TN Arts Commission and supported, in whole or in part by the state of Tennessee, U.S. Department of Treasury.
